Am having a wonderful month at the River Art Group Gallery. Have sold 6 paintings this month! Really makes me happy to know that people from all over the US are taking my paintings home and hanging them as reminders of their time here in San Antonio. Now that I am retired and have more time to devote to my artwork, I am looking into participating with the San Antonio Visual Arts group too.

Love the light in this one. I am trying very hard to do as Richard Schmid suggests. That is to start out right away getting the right values and colors and shapes rather than just blocking in aproximations and then going back and making corrections. He also suggests that you start with a simple shape and color. Something you are sure of and build on that. So I started with the background and the two brightest spotlights in the background, then worked forward. There is something to getting it right the first time as I finished this one in one sitting!

I loved that first Sanantomatios that I did for the San Antonio Art League donation-so decided to do another one--always trying to improve on color and brushwork. Feel like this is fresh and bold and very San Antonio! Will be working on more Riverwalk pieces now and also just finished a pencil portrait of my daughter and her fiance--just in time for their wedding on the 21 of this month. I will post that soon.
